In addition to SOT awards, fellowships and supported awards with an October 9, 2016 application/nomination deadline, the RC, SIG, and SS of SOT confer a number of awards throughout the year, particularly to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

The Society of Toxicology (SOT) has learned of the recent passing of Full International member Cliff Elcombe, PhD, on August 25, 2016, following a short illness. He joined SOT in 1999 and was a member of the Carcinogenesis and Mechanisms Specialty Sections.
As directed by Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act, US EPA is establishing a SAC on chemicals to provide independent advice and expert consultation on the scientific and technical aspects of risk assessments, methodologies, and pollution prevention measures or approaches.
SOT presents the Public Communications Award to an individual who has made a major contribution to increasing the general public’s awareness of toxicological issues. This contribution can be made through any aspect of public communications and should have occurred over a significant period of time.
