The Northland Regional Chapter of SOT (NLSOT) held its spring meeting on Thursday, April 12 at Medtronic World Headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The meeting was titled “The Emerging Practice of Medical Device Toxicology.”
For her achievements as an expert in human studies of disorders with toxicological etiologies, SOT is pleased to present Xuemei Huang with the inaugural Translational/Bridging Travel Award.
On May 7, 2012, SOT President William Slikker Jr. forwarded a message received from Seymour Garte of the Center for Scientific Review (CSR) announcing that the Special Emphasis Panel (SEP) called Systemic Injury by Environmental Exposure (SIEE) had been reinstated to review grant applications.
An SOT Contemporary Concepts in Toxicology (CCT) workshop entitled “Multi-scale Integration of Human Health and Environmental Data,” co-sponsored by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), was held at the EPA campus in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina on May 8—11, 2012.
On May 31, Lek Kadeli, Acting Assistant Administrator, Office of Research and Development (ORD) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that Kenneth Olden will direct both the National Center for Environmental Assessment (NCEA) and the Human Health Risk Assessment Research Program (HHRAP).
