SOT honors outstanding scientists whose translational research or practice has enhanced human health through the Translational Impact Award and the Translational/Bridging Travel Award. These awards emphasize the substantial influence that groundbreaking research can have on understanding toxicity and its effects on human well-being.
Translational Impact Award
The Translational Impact Award highlights the influence of recent and exceptional clinical, environmental health, and translational research that has made a transformative difference in human and public health within the realm of toxicology. This award celebrates scientists who have made significant contributions in the last 10 years, particularly those leading multidisciplinary team efforts that have alleviated toxicity-related health problems. The award includes a distinguished plaque presented during the SOT Annual Meeting Awards Ceremony, a cash stipend, and an exclusive invitation to deliver the Translational Impact Award Lecture at the SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo.
Translational/Bridging Travel Award
The Translational/Bridging Travel Award offers a unique opportunity for mid- to senior-level scientists and clinicians who have at least 10 years of postdoctoral research or clinical practice experience. This award supports their participation in the SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo by assisting with travel costs. Recipients receive a prestigious plaque, a cash stipend, and complimentary registration for the SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo, showcasing their contributions to research, clinical toxicology, medical toxicology, disease prevention, or translational toxicology.
Making a Nomination
The nomination deadline for the SOT Awards is October 9. Nomination packages should include letters of recommendation that provide a comprehensive overview of the nominee's contributions, CVs highlighting the nominee's accomplishments, and a clear demonstration of their impact on the field. The CV should be limited to 10 pages, focusing on the candidate’s most significant professional accomplishments as they relate to the award criteria. Awards Committee members are required to review only 10 pages of each CV, so submitting a longer CV does not strengthen an award nomination.
For more information on making a nomination, please review the “Awards Review Process and FAQs” web page of the SOT website. Please direct any inquiries to SOT Headquarters.
Celebrate the exceptional contributions of your colleagues by nominating them for the SOT Translational Impact Award or the Translational/Bridging Travel Award today.
Please note that to ensure a diversity of nominees, there is a two-year grace period for SOT Awards. Preference will be given to nominees who have not received one of the following SOT Awards in the past two years: Achievement, Arnold J. Lehman, Distinguished Toxicology Scholar, Education, Enhancement of Animal Welfare, Founders, Leading Edge in Basic Science, Merit, Public Communications, Toxicologist Mentoring, Translational Impact, Translational/Bridging Travel, and Undergraduate Educator Awards.
