As we prepare to convene in San Diego in late March, the Scientific Program Committee (SPC) is already looking ahead to the 2023 Annual Meeting and ToxExpo in Nashville, Tennessee!
The SPC will host its annual webinar designed to illuminate the process by which proposals for Scientific Sessions are reviewed as well as the criteria for evaluation. The SPC values the input received from the membership—in particular, the SOT Specialty Sections, Special Interest Groups, and Committees—with respect to the Annual Meeting program.
Please mark your calendar for Friday, February 25, to participate in the “Developing Competitive Scientific Session Proposals: The Importance of Endorsers” webinar from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm US Eastern Time.
In this webinar, SPC leaders will provide an overview of the submission, review, and decision process and answer some of the frequently asked questions related to proposal submission. The goal is to provide participants with insight from the perspective of the SPC that will aid them in preparing top-quality, competitive proposals. We are aware of the exciting opportunities, as well as challenges, for the proposal developers.
Although you are probably very busy preparing for the 2022 Annual Meeting, the 2023 Annual Meeting session Proposal Site will open soon after the 2022 Annual Meeting concludes, and will remain open until Monday, May 16. We especially encourage trainees to consider developing a program, as it provides an opportunity for interaction with leaders in your discipline.
Networking during Annual Meeting at events such as Specialty Section receptions can be a great way to make connections as you think about submitting a proposal for 2023. The webinar should be a useful starting point as you begin to formulate session proposals. The webinar will be recorded; however, attending during the live webinar will allow you to ask questions directly to members of the SPC and the Continuing Education Committee!
