SOT Seeking Chairs for Platform and Poster Sessions at the 2023 Annual Meeting

By Dori Germolec posted 10-13-2022 14:18

Serving as a Chair for a Platform or Poster Session is a great way to gain leadership experience within the Society, make connections with fellow researchers, and provide support for your colleagues and the presenters.

All SOT members are eligible to serve as Platform and Poster Session Chairs, and the SOT Scientific Program Committee (SPC) invites you to volunteer for this role for the 2023 SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo, taking place March 19–23 in Nashville, Tennessee.

The time requirement for Platform and Poster Session Chairs is minimal as most of the role is occurs within one to three hours on-site during the SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo. While the specific responsibilities vary between the two session types, overall, the Chairs for these sessions have two primary responsibilities:

  1. Familiarize themselves with all abstracts in their session so they can engage with each presenter
  2. Ensure that their session runs smoothly and on time

For more details on the Chair responsibilities, review the Platform Session Chair and Poster Session Chair guidelines on the SOT Annual Meeting website.

To volunteer to serve as an SOT Platform or Poster Session Chair, please complete the Chair Volunteer Form. Note that Chairs often are selected to oversee sessions on topics in which they have expertise, so please review the “Category List” in this blog before completing your Volunteer Form. If selected, by mid-February 2023, you will receive an invitation to serve as a Chair alongside additional instructions.
