Build Toxicology Programs in Developing Countries: Apply to be a 2022 SOT Global Senior Scholar Host—Deadline June 1

By Jessica Sapiro posted 05-20-2021 09:16

The goal of the Global Senior Scholar Exchange Program (GSSEP) is to increase toxicology capacity in developing countries by providing professional opportunities for scientists through relationships supported by SOT.

GSSEP Hosts are individual(s) interested in hosting a Global Senior Scholar with mutual research and teaching interests and will develop cooperative projects to build the toxicology program and expertise at the Scholar’s institution and in the region. The exchange experiences are intended to be mutually beneficial for building the careers of both the Scholars and the Hosts. A benefit to the Host is the opportunity to develop international scientific partnerships.

SOT members from established toxicology programs (including academic, government, and industry organizations) worldwide are eligible to apply as Hosts. Mid-career-level faculty who are looking to build international recognition for professional advancement are strongly encouraged to apply.

Scholars will receive support to attend the SOT Annual Meeting and spend about four weeks with the Host. After the Scholar is in residence with the Host, SOT will provide up to $5,000 in travel support for the Host to visit the Scholar’s institution, other faculty, and students.

New this year, the Host applications will be submitted first, with a deadline of June 1, 2021. Toward mid-year, Scholars will have the opportunity to submit their applications for the Host Institution they believe will be the most impactful to their training and research objectives.
