Stipends Available for Undergraduate Toxicology Content Developers

The Toxicology Mentoring and Skills Development Training (ToxMSDT) leadership team is recruiting educators and those interested in the education of undergraduates to assist in (1) the development of 10 new modules to provide toxicology content to undergraduates and (2) the enhancement of existing learning modules with active learning elements. Those selected for the development teams will receive a $1,500 stipend per new module developed and a $500 stipend per module reviewed and updated.

Members of the ToxMSDT content development team will receive a stipend of $2,000 per year of participation. This three-member group will define the parameters for the content of the new modules, including content and scope for each module, as well as guide the revision of the existing modules. We anticipate developing one new case study module and enhancing two existing modules in the next year. Three new modules will be developed during each of the next three years for a total of 10, and all six existing modules will be updated before the project ends in 2025. Module content will be developed using a One Health approach and the SOT Toxicology Learning Framework.

ToxMSDT is a five-year project funded by NIH to increase the number of students from underrepresented groups on the pathway to careers in toxicology and the biomedical sciences. Each year, a cohort of students engages in mentoring, career development, and toxicology training activities. The project is based at the University of California Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, with SOT and five other institutions serving as part of the collaboration. The toxicology modules are part of the training for the students but also are a curated resource freely available 24-7 for anyone to use in independent study or in formal undergraduate toxicology instruction.

The deadline to volunteer for the ToxMSDT content team is November 12. The deadline to indicate your interest in module review or development is December 1. For both, complete the ToxMSDT Module Interest Form.
