The SOT Education and Career Development Committee (ECDC) is pleased to host the annual Research Funding Insights session, “Funding 101: Multiple Perspectives on the NIH Grant Process,” on May 26, 2022, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm (US EDT). This unique virtual session, chaired by Amanda Garton and Danielle Carlin with the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), provides participants with a robust overview of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant funding process, insights from successful early-stage and established investigators, and a Q&A opportunity with the speakers. Participants should register for this webinar online.

The session will feature presentations by:

  • Mike Humble, NIEHS Program Officer, who will describe the general NIH grant process and NIH Pre- and Post-Doctoral Fellowships
  • Carol Shreffler, NIEHS Program Officer, who will discuss the K99/R00 application process and nuances to applying (and reapplying if not successful the first time)
  • Aishwarya Prakash, Associate Professor at the University of South Alabama, who will share her grant writing experience, provide a brief description of her research, and will give insight into future directions involving grant writing

Don’t miss this opportunity to gain great understanding of the NIH grant funding process to help increase the strength of your grant applications.
