On July 1, letters were sent to the leadership of the House Committee on Appropriations and the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies and the leadership of the Senate Committee on Appropriations and the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies urging the inclusion of $180 million in funding for the Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) program as part of the FY2023 appropriations bill. The ECHO program, housed within the National Institutes of Health, is focused on understanding the factors that affect maternal and child health and development. SOT signed both letters alongside 29 other organizations and associations. The full letter to the House and the full letter to the Senate are available on the SOT website.

Remember that you can view recent SOT statements and policy activities on the “SOT Statements” web page.
