It’s been already a month since SOT Council decided that the 2021 SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo would be a virtual-only event. In the meantime, Council and various Committees have been working hard at ensuring the Virtual Annual Meeting and ToxExpo are more than “just another” Zoom call—and frankly, we are excited by the possibilities and opportunities we’ve identified so far.
We recognize that in-person and virtual conferences are not interchangeable, but we’re going to come as close as we can! We’re talking a full scientific schedule; audio recordings and chats for Poster Sessions; live discussions and Q&As; networking spaces; a dedicated exhibit area; access to speakers, presenters, and other attendees; and whatever else we can do to make sure the 2021 meeting meets the SOT standards of quality scientific content combined with engaging interactions and networking.
Beyond what SOT is bringing to the Virtual Meeting, think of some of the benefits to you. A prolonged home absence is not required, and there are no travel and hotel costs. Visa restrictions and costs are eliminated altogether for our members from overseas. You don’t need to choose what sessions to attend because you can binge-watch sessions since the Virtual 2021 SOT Annual Meeting will include on-demand presentations! And remember, when attending virtually, the snacks (especially the Americanos) at the breaks are better, and the restroom lines are shorter.
