Virtual 2021 Annual Meeting Offers Increased Exposure for Poster Presentations—2021 Abstract Submission Site Is Now Open!

Plan to participate in the Virtual 2021 SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo by submitting your abstract today. The meeting, occurring March 12–26, 2021, will feature cutting-edge science and influential research—and we want yours to be a part of it. Daily Poster Sessions will allow you to engage live with fellow researchers and colleagues, while the Virtual Poster Gallery will allow others to connect with your work and contact you directly. Plus, all presenters can record audio presentations to accompany their ePosters!

Beyond these multifaceted poster presentations, each day of the Virtual 2021 Annual Meeting and ToxExpo will consist of Featured Sessions, 165-minute Scientific Sessions, 90-minute Scientific Sessions, time for visiting the Virtual ToxExpo Exhibit Hall, and more! Fridays will be dedicated to Continuing Education courses. The meeting won’t be all science, though; there will be ample opportunities for social engagement and networking, as SOT is creating special online “lounges” around specific themes and topics that will allow attendees to drop in and converse with fellow attendees.

The 2021 Abstract Submission Site is now open, and we strongly encourage you to review the session titles on the SOT Annual Meeting website and to submit an abstract for consideration. The Abstract Submission Site will be open for Poster and Platform Sessions for the 2021 meeting through Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at 11:59 pm (EST).

We recognize that COVID-19 disrupted many research efforts, which is why the submission deadline was extended to December 1. Poster abstracts submitted and accepted for the 2020 Annual Meeting may be resubmitted, provided the abstract contains reasonably modified or updated content. All abstracts submitted and accepted for the 2021 meeting will be published in the 2021 issue of The Toxicologist. As a reminder, all 2020 accepted abstracts were published in the 2020 issue of The Toxicologist or The Toxicologist supplement (for accepted late-breaking abstracts), which are available on the SOT website. There are no plans for late-breaking posters to be part of the Virtual 2021 Annual Meeting.

For those concerned about how SOT will regulate “photo taking” of posters in an online space, please note that the Annual Meeting Policies—to which all attendees agree upon registration—prohibit the capturing, copying, or taking screenshots of any aspect of the Virtual Annual Meeting without the consent of the presenter(s)/author(s)/exhibitor(s), including but not limited to slide presentations, video presentations, audio presentations, Q&As, chats, exhibits, posters, and abstracts. This is a similar honor system as employed during the in-person meeting, which prohibits the taking of photos or videos of Scientific Sessions and posters.

SOT and its Annual Meeting and ToxExpo rely on the contributions of its members to ensure that the Society is presenting relevant, important research influencing the realms of public, animal, and environmental health. We urge you to set aside any reservations you may have about the virtual aspect of the 2021 event—the meeting is intended to be an opportunity for you to participate in all the things to which you look forward to experiencing during an in-person Annual Meeting and ToxExpo. Please submit your research and register to join us online for the Virtual Annual Meeting and ToxExpo.
