SOT and the Scientific Program Committee (SPC) have developed an exciting and robust program for the Virtual 2021 Annual Meeting, including virtual Poster and Platform Sessions—and we want you to serve as a Chair for one of these sessions.
About the Poster Sessions
Occurring Mondays–Thursdays, March 15–18 and March 22–25, the Poster Sessions will allow attendees to view ePosters and interact directly with the poster authors through online chats. The Poster Sessions will be scheduled into one of two time blocks: 11:15 am to 1:00 pm (US EDT, UTC -4) or 1:00 pm to 2:45 pm (US EDT, UTC -4). On Day One of the meeting, all posters will be available in the Virtual Poster Gallery, where Annual Meeting participants can view the posters, leave questions/comments for the author via a chat message box, and listen to audio recordings by the author(s).
Volunteer to Chair a Virtual Poster Session
SOT is seeking at least one Chair per Poster Session. Before the Poster Session, Chairs are asked to review and become familiar with all the abstracts in their session. Finally, SOT requests that Chair(s) keep track of posters assigned to the session and note that all posters are viewable. Additional roles for Chairs may include visiting each poster in the session and sharing details about the Poster Session experience.
About the Platform Sessions
The SPC may place abstracts into a themed Platform Session. Platform Sessions involve slide and audio presentations of work typically contained in a poster. For the Virtual Annual Meeting, Platform Session authors will record and upload their presentations before the start of the meeting and will be present during the scheduled Platform Session to engage with attendees through virtual chats. Upon completion, all Platform Sessions will be available for on-demand viewing via the Virtual Meeting platform.
Volunteer to Chair a Platform Session
One to two Chairs are needed for each Platform Session. Each Chair should contact the presenting authors of each abstract assigned to the session and become familiar with the abstracts in the session. Chairs should prepare questions to ask the presenters if no questions are submitted by the attendees during the Platform Session.
How to Volunteer
To volunteer as a Poster or Platform Session Chair, please complete the SOT Volunteer Form to provide your information, including your topic(s) of interest. If selected, you will be sent an invitation by early January to confirm your Chair role and provide you with additional details of the role and responsibilities. Note that all Chairs of Platform and Poster Sessions are acknowledged in Annual Meeting materials, including on the Virtual Meeting platform.
