The first 24 recipients of the SOT Science Communication Training Award took part in a June 29 virtual workshop led by instructors with the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science. The workshop, titled “The Essentials,” provided awardees with “techniques and skills to help you communicate about your research in clear and vivid ways.” The attendees felt that the experience was worthwhile, although most wished it could have been longer and in person.
The active participation and enthusiasm of the awardees is greatly appreciated, and we are reviewing their feedback to help inform future science communication training activities, including the second round of SOT Science Communication Training Awards that will be available later this year.
