2019 Annual Meeting of the International Societies of Exposure Science and Indoor Air Quality and Climate
August 18–22, 2019; Žalgirio Arena, Kaunas, Lithuania
The central theme for this conference is “the built, natural, and social environments: impacts on exposures, health, and well-being,” with an emphasis on both pollutant exposures and research improving our understanding of interactions between the numerous and complex factors affecting health. There are many sessions of interest to SOT members, with topics including:
- Emerging exposures of concern
- Exposure resources, such as models, sensors, simulations, and tools
- Biomonitoring and biological responses to toxicants and other stressors
- Exposure, hazard, and risk assessment
- Exposure control strategies and practices

Preventing Benzene’s Adverse Health Effects: Considerations in Occupational Exposure Limit Development

The Aromatics Producers Association, a sector Group of CEFIC, is organizing a free symposium on the development of an occupational exposure limit (OEL) for benzene. The goal of this symposium is to share insights on ways to interpret benzene epidemiology studies for deriving a safe exposure level. There will be presentations on reliability assessment of epidemiology studies, on how the Risk Assessment Committee of ECHA and industry developed an OEL for benzene, and on how the overall available information led to a recommendation for an OEL in the EU. Dose-Response Assessment Boot Camp

Hosted by Toxicology Excellence for Risk Assessment (TERA), this course is a five-day intensive, hands-on training in hazard characterization and dose-response assessment. Both beginners and expert toxicological risk assessors will learn advanced methods and enhance their understanding and skills in the basics. Gordon Research Seminar: Oxygen Radicals—Redox Processes from Chemical Reactivity to Their Role in Health and Disease
