Iowa State University and Tuskegee University recently were awarded a National Institutes of Health National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIH NIGMS) R25 grant for a Toxicology Mentoring and Skills Development Training Program. The goal of the NIGMS R25 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nation's biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research needs. This funding opportunity encourages activities and outreach programs with a primary focus on courses for skills development, structured mentoring activities, and outreach programs to create a highly skilled and diverse workforce.
We are recruiting 15 mentors from industry and government to match 1:1 with under-represented undergraduates interested in pursuing further education in toxicology. Mentors would need to be willing to meet with their mentees on four occasions after January 1, 2017.
