Opportunity to Participate in Toxicology Mentoring Program

By Wilson Rumbeiha posted 10-20-2016 12:22

Iowa State University and Tuskegee University recently were awarded a National Institutes of Health National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIH NIGMS) R25 grant for a Toxicology Mentoring and Skills Development Training Program. The goal of the NIGMS R25 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nation's biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research needs. This funding opportunity encourages activities and outreach programs with a primary focus on courses for skills development, structured mentoring activities, and outreach programs to create a highly skilled and diverse workforce.

We are recruiting 15 mentors from industry and government to match 1:1 with under-represented undergraduates interested in pursuing further education in toxicology. Mentors would need to be willing to meet with their mentees on four occasions after January 1, 2017. More detailed information regarding the grant, dates for activities, and mentor expectations are found on the mentor information page.

To apply, please complete the application form and return it electronically by email to Ms. Linda Wild by October 31, 2016.
