SOT Members Among Nominees for EPA SACC Under New TSCA Bill: Comments Due January 9

A Federal Register notice announced that the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) is seeking comments in support of nominees to be appointed to the Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals (SACC) established pursuant to the Frank Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act. This Act resulted in reform to the Toxics Substances Control Act (TSCA). The purpose of this SACC is to provide independent advice and expert consultation, at the request of the US EPA Administrator, with respect to the scientific and technical aspects of risk assessments, methodologies, and pollution prevention measures or approaches.

Thirteen SOT members are among the list of nominees and comments are due by January 9. The SOT members include Holger Behrsing, James V. Bruckner, Stuart Cagen, Debra Cory-Slechta, Kathleen Gilbert, Gary Ginsberg, Melanie Marty, J. Craig Rowlands, Daniel Schlenk, Kristie Sullivan, Christine Whittaker, Catherine Willett, and Tracey Woodruff. The announcement notes that that US EPA anticipates selecting approximately 14 members to serve on the SACC.
