The Graduate Student Leadership Committee (GSLC) is extending an invitation to participate in this year’s Chat with an Expert (CWAE) program. This program provides the opportunity for trainees to meet with expert toxicologists during the 2020 SOT Annual Meeting in Anaheim, California, March 15–19, 2020.

Feedback from participants is very positive every year, and we encourage your participation. We are looking for expert toxicologists to meet with postdoctoral scholars and graduate students, as well as for postdoctoral scholars who would like to meet with graduate students interested in pursuing a postdoctoral program.

During the registration process, experts and postdocs will choose dates and general times (morning or afternoon) for a meeting during which they can be available and that are convenient for their schedule. Trainees will then be able to select experts/postdocs based on research, professional interests, and time availability. In the survey, each expert/postdoc will choose how many students they want to meet (up to three) and whether they will choose to meet them as a group or individually. After the matching process, experts/postdocs will receive brief backgrounds and contact information of the assigned students. Before meeting, it will be up to the experts and students to communicate and establish a specific meeting time and location.

The meeting typically consists of a chat over coffee or a snack, or simply an informal meeting in a relatively quiet area of the convention center. If an expert decides to meet during mealtimes, everyone in the group is responsible for their own meal expense.

Experts and postdocs interested in meeting trainees are asked to register by Monday, January 13, 2020.

Students and postdocs interested in meeting an expert—be on the lookout for a separate registration link, which will be posted during the week of January 20, after expert registration has closed. Expert information will be compiled in a document at that time, from which you will select your top choices.
