With the June 12 deadline to submit proposals for 2021 Annual Meeting sessions fast approaching, and with COVID-19 continuing to cause uncertainty and disruption for many individuals and labs, the Scientific Program Committee (SPC) would like to clarify some points about 2021 session proposals.
Friday, June 12, at 11:59 pm (ET) is the deadline, owing to the tight review period for both the endorsing groups (Special Interest Groups, Specialty Sections, SOT Committees) and the SPC, and in order to render tentative acceptance decisions by the end of July.
2020 Accepted Proposals and the 2021 Annual Meeting
The SPC and Continuing Education Committee (CEC) are interested in the latest science for sharing during the SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo. Therefore, the Committees request that proposals that are identical to sessions accepted for the 2020 Annual Meeting not be submitted. SOT expects the science presented at the 2021 Annual Meeting to be fresh and new. If you decide to propose a session on the same topic for 2021, make sure it is revised and updated and that your updates are clear to the SPC or CEC. The Proposal Submission Site contains a required question related to session resubmissions.
The Annual Meeting website contains complete information on the proposal process, including the SPC-hosted webinar from February 14 on developing competitive Scientific Session proposals.
Please continue to be safe as the world maneuvers through these uncertain times. We look forward to receiving your proposals for the Annual Meeting in Orlando in March.
