A little over a year ago, one of my mentors, Dr. Barbara Kaplan, visited the Mississippi University for Women (MUW, the “W”) as a ToxScholar. Contrary to its name, MUW is now a co-ed university, and while it offers degrees in a variety of fields, toxicology is not one of them.
Through the generous support of the Society of Toxicology Supplemental Training for Education Program (STEP), I was able to pursue specialized training in nanoparticle aerosol science and the application of a novel in vitro aerosol exposure system.
The Undergraduate Diversity Program Awards provide the opportunity for promising undergraduate science majors interested in research careers and faculty advisors to attend the Undergraduate Diversity Program at the Society of Toxicology Annual Meeting.
