The Leading Edge in Basic Science Award is presented to a member or non-member scientist who, through research, has made a significant contribution to the areas of basic science that can lead to furthering our understanding of fundamental mechanisms of toxicity.

Dr. Katherine Squibb passed away in Columbia, Maryland after an extended illness. Before retiring, she served as a Professor in the Department of Medicine of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and was Co-Director of the University of Maryland System-Wide Graduate Program in Toxicology.
