In 2015, the Society of Toxicology endorsed "Innovation: An American Imperative," a call-to-action urging the US Congress to enact policies and make investments that ensure the US remains a global innovation leader. On April 24, the organizers of this initiative issued a progress report.
Forensic Toxicology is one of the major foundational specialties of the science of toxicology, yet it has no formal recognition within SOT. With the intention to remedy this, we propose to form what will tentatively be called the Forensic Toxicology Specialty Section.
The 53rd Congress of the European Societies of Toxicology (EUROTOX) will be held in Bratislava, Slovakia, September 10‒13, 2017. The theme of the congress is Connecting for a Safer Future and the program will include more than 30 symposia and workshops that will highlight novel toxicology findings.
The Society of Toxicology (SOT) has learned of the passing of James L. Schardein, MS, ATS, on April 21. Mr. Schardein joined SOT in 1969, and in 2007, he received the two awards from the Reproductive and Developmental Toxicology Specialty Section.
