The so called Coburn amendment to limit government attendance at meetings was dropped from consideration before the Senate passed the continuing resolution on Wednesday, March 20, 2013.

A delegation from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) met recently with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to reinforce the importance of preserving the dialogue and exchange of ideas between government and private industries that so often occurs at meetings.
Because of the attention that has been given to the tools and technologies associated with toxicology testing in the 21st Century, the Society hosted two major events in the Washington, DC area to address the challenges and opportunities associated with the explosion of 21st Century toxicity testing
The Society was one of several professional societies and nongovernmental organizations to sign a letter to the Chairmen of the the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees urging them to pass legislation that more adequately addresses the needs of the National Institutes of Health.
