Let me start by saying that I am honored to have received a Translational/Bridging Travel Award and it was a real pleasure to attend the Society of Toxicology Annual Meeting.
On February 26, Dr.Don Ingber, the 2013 award recipient of the SOT Leading Edge in Basic Science Award, was presented with the NC3Rs Prize from the UK's National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement and Reduction of Animals in Research for his innovative Lung-on-a-Chip research.
The SOT Awards Committee has selected graduate student award recipients to be recognized at the SOT 52nd Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas as an expression of the Society's priority of building for the future of toxicology.
The recipients of the SOT Merit Award, SOT Leading Edge in Basic Science Award, and SOT Distinguished Toxicology Scholar Award will deliver presentations during the SOT 2013 Annual Meeting.
In recent years the Society of Toxicology has reached out to scientists from developing countries to increase the impact of toxicology on public health. This fall, applications are due for several SOT programs that are offering awards to scientists from developing countries and to their mentors.
