The Society for the Advancement Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science held their 43rd Annual Conference October 13–15 in Long Beach, California. The conference attracted over 4,000 undergraduates, graduate students and professionals in STEM disciplines.

An update to a decades-old federal law governing overtime pay for US workers has caused a big stir in the postdoctoral community. Although the initial notice that the law might be changing came from President Obama as early as 2014, the impact to postdocs was really felt on May 18, 2016.

In January 2016, I received the Society of Toxicology (SOT) International ToxScholar Outreach Grant to visit my alma mater, NTR College of Veterinary Sciences, Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Gannavaram, AP, India.
