ToxMSDT Seeks Authors for Regulatory and Forever Chemical Online Undergraduate Learning Resources

By Mindy Reynolds posted 03-21-2024 12:11

We are seeking toxicologists interested in contributing to the development of online learning resources in basic toxicology for undergraduates as part of the Toxicology Mentoring and Skills Development Training (ToxMSDT) program. Currently, we are recruiting potential authors to create a case study on Forever Chemicals (such as PCBs and PFAS) and to update a Regulatory Toxicology module.

Teams of three—which will include topic experts, undergraduate educators, and those interested in the education of undergraduates—will develop engaging case studies and modules that creatively present content for exploration by the learner. Students selected to participate in the ToxMSDT program will use these materials, and they also are available for independent learners and formal and informal education. You can see examples that we have recently published on the ToxMSDT curriculum page.

The stipend for each author contributing fully to their team is $2,000. Developers convey all rights to ToxMSDT, which renders the material available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License. The case study will correlate with specific ToxMSDT toxicology modules.

Please indicate your interest by completing this form by April 15, 2024. Once selected, teams of authors will submit an initial draft of the case study/module by July and a final draft in the last months of 2024.

The ToxMSDT program is funded by National Institutes of Health grant 1R25GM139200 to the University of California Davis and five other partner institutions, including SOT. SOT is leading the e-learning tools development project.
