Upcoming Biological Modeling Specialty Section Webinar

By Jeffery Gearhart posted 03-29-2018 11:59

The Society of Toxicology (SOT) Component Groups (Regional Chapters, Special Interest Groups, and Specialty Sections) host many webinars throughout the year. Webinars are an effective distance-learning method intended to impart scientific knowledge to members of their group as well as the SOT membership at large. These webinars are just one of the many benefits of SOT membership.

The upcoming Biological Modeling Specialty Section (BMSS) webinar is listed below.

BMSS Webinar

Topic: Quantitative Systems Toxicology as a Tool for Explaining and Predicting Drug-Related Organ Toxicity

Date and Time: Wednesday, April 11, 2018

Event address and registration for attendees

Dr. Jeff Woodhead, Lisl Shoda, and colleagues from DILIsym Services, Inc., will give a presentation entitled: “Quantitative Systems Toxicology as a Tool for Explaining and Predicting Drug-Related Organ Toxicity.”

Quantitative systems toxicology (QST) seeks to represent drug interactions with organ biology mechanistically in a mathematical model. Doing so can contribute to an understanding of the mechanisms behind drug-induced organ toxicity, and models constructed using QST can serve as a predictive tool for drugs that may cause organ toxicity. This webinar will provide an overview of current applications QST modeling, including examples from the liver, the kidney, and the heart. This webinar will also discuss the opportunities for and challenges presented by QST modeling in general and will provide some guidance for the adoption of QST in the drug development pipeline.

Registration is required.
