On behalf of SOT Council, I am pleased to announce the approval of a new SOT Specialty Section: the Sustainable Chemicals through Contemporary Toxicology Specialty Section (SCCTSS).
About SCCTSS
The purpose of SCCTSS is to address the broader impact of toxicological research to inform decisions that advance safer chemistry throughout the product life cycle. By facilitating and supporting interdisciplinary partnerships and other scientific activities, SCCTSS will promote the execution and application of toxicological research to reduce the likelihood of regrettable substitution throughout the supply chain.
The many objectives of SCCTSS include:
- Fostering correct application and interpretation of state-of-the-science alternative testing methods to assess human health hazards
- Advancing the adoption of contemporary toxicology approaches for assessing data gaps for health and/or environmental toxicity and fate endpoints
- Promoting best practices in performing toxicological-based research to support new product development and informed substitution
