SOT Metabolic Syndrome CCT– Early Bird Deadline February 10

v2MetabolicSyndrome.jpg

Metabolic Syndrome and Associated Diseases: From the Bench to the Clinic, a Society of Toxicology (SOT) 56th Annual Meeting Satellite, will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017, in Baltimore, Maryland. Endorsed by Endocrine Society, this conference will address a major public health concern. Individuals with metabolic syndrome have signs similar to that of toxic responses (e.g., oxidative stress and inflammation), and organ dysfunction. Metabolic syndrome is a combination of risk factors that can lead to greater potential of type 2 diabetes, obesity, lipid disorders, cardiovascular disease, and other circulatory disorders. It is estimated that metabolic syndrome affects more than 20% of adults in the United States and European Union. Given the rapidly growing incidence of this syndrome, it is critical to understand these widespread abnormalities as it changes our definition of “normal.” The overarching objectives of this conference include defining knowledge gaps, identifying research needs, protecting public health, and empowering product development. This conference is organized under the auspices of the SOT Contemporary Concepts in Toxicology (CCT) Conferences Committee. The early bird registration deadline is February 10. To register and submit an abstract so you can participate in our extended poster session, visit the conference website

Using pharmaceutical development as examples, participants will obtain an overall understanding of the principles of toxicology and nonclinical safety evaluation. The course will include discussion of regulatory case studies and hands-on analyses of nonclinical data. The course is intended to benefit individuals working with small and large molecules from biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, CROs, and regulatory agencies, or individuals interested in or currently practicing toxicology. For more information and to register, please visit the conference website.
