Dr. Daniella Pizzurro is the Director of Regulatory Toxicology and Preclinical Development at AVROBIO where she specializes in study design, execution, and interpretation of toxicology and biodistribution studies related to lentiviral vector gene therapy drug products. Dr. Pizzurro received a PhD in Toxicology from the University of Washington in Seattle (2013) with a research focus in neurotoxicology. Dr. Pizzurro is certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology and has been an active member of the Society of Toxicology since 2009. In addition to serving on volunteer award review panels for the Women in Toxicology Special Interest Group, Dr. Pizzurro has served the SOT as a mentor for the Committee on Diversity Initiatives Undergraduate Diversity Program (2012–2019). Her interests include human health safety assessment, pharmacokinetics, and bolstering diversity and inclusion in all levels of educational and professional science.
