By Dori Germolec posted 08-03-2023 01:04 PM

SOT, alongside partner the American College of Toxicology (ACT), is pleased to share the results of the 11th Triennial Toxicology Salary Survey.

Some key takeaways from the survey are that salaries are on the rise in the field of toxicology, with more than 78% of respondents making more than $100,000, and that women continue to receive lower compensation when at the higher end of the salary ranges. You can view the full results in the “Eleventh Triennial Toxicology Salary Survey” open access article in the International Journal of Toxicology. A link to this paper also is available on the “Toxicology Salary Surveys” web page on the SOT website.

A special thank you to the SOT Education and Career Development Committee for coordinating the survey and to the publication’s authors, Dexter W. Sullivan Jr., MS, DABT, and Shayne C. Gad, PhD, DABT, for their analysis of the responses.

This survey was conducted in mid-2021 and captured information from 980 individuals drawn from eight organizations in addition to SOT and ACT: the Society for Birth Defects Research, the Society of Toxicologic Pathology, the Safety Pharmacology Society, the American Board of Toxicology, the Academy of Toxicological Sciences, the Roundtable of Toxicology Consultants, the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, and the Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society. SOT thanks these organizations and individuals for their participation.
