Assuming the role of a Chair for an SOT Annual Meeting Platform or Poster Session is an exceptional opportunity to cultivate leadership skills. It not only allows you to forge meaningful connections with fellow researchers but also enables you to extend valuable support to your colleagues and the presenters.
Eligibility for serving as Platform and Poster Session Chairs is open to all SOT members. The SOT Scientific Program Committee (SPC) extends a warm invitation for you to consider volunteering for this pivotal Annual Meeting roll. The 2024 SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo is scheduled for March 10–14 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The time commitment expected from Platform and Poster Session Chairs is relatively modest, typically ranging from one to three hours on-site during the SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo. While the specific responsibilities vary slightly between the two session types, Chairs for both share two fundamental tasks:
- Familiarize themselves with all abstracts in their session to facilitate meaningful engagement with each presenter.
- Ensure the seamless and punctual execution of their session.
For a comprehensive understanding of Chair responsibilities, delve into the Platform Session Chair and Poster Session Chair guidelines available on the SOT Annual Meeting website.
To express your willingness to serve as an SOT Platform or Poster Session Chair, please complete the Chair Volunteer Form. Take note that Chairs are often chosen to oversee sessions related to their expertise, so be sure to review the “Category List” in this blog before completing the Volunteer Form. If selected, you can anticipate an invitation to serve as a Chair, along with additional instructions, by mid-January 2024.
