The webinar, “Programs Supporting Underrepresented Undergraduate Students in STEM,” will be moderated by Robin Bright, Fort Valley State University, Fort Valley, Georgia, and will feature two presenters:

  1. Prakash Nagarkatti, Senior Research Advisor to the President of the University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina
  2. Celia Dodd, Director of Undergraduate Research and Associate Professor of Biology at Fort Valley State University
Celia Dodd

Each speaker will provide overviews of their experiences with federally funded programs to encourage progression of undergraduates to careers in the sciences, including developing courses and creating laboratory experiences. The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion, and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.

The goal of this webinar is to share examples of successful programs and to provide examples of ways faculty and institutions can create environments that retain undergraduate students—especially those who are underrepresented in the sciences—on STEM pathways and into toxicology-related careers.

Previous Undergraduate Education Network webinars on a diversity of topics related to teaching toxicology are found on the Undergraduate Educator Network Webinars” web page.
