Invitation to Submit a 2016 SOT Annual Meeting Proposal

By John Morris posted 04-09-2015 02:53 PM

In 2015, the SOT Scientific Program Committee developed an impressive slate of timely and highly informative symposia, workshops, roundtables, and other special sessions that reflected the broad spectrum of topics of interest to our diverse membership. As a result of this programming, the Society featured close to 2,900 presentations for its 54th Annual Meeting.

The number of presentations continues to underscore the growth of the meeting, and the unparalleled access to timely topics relative to toxicology. Therefore, we are excited to invite you to develop sessions for consideration for the 2016 Annual Meeting that will take place March 13–17, 2016 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

For the 2016 Annual Meeting, the Scientific Program Committee will be developing themes based on the accepted proposals. These program themes will be developed to highlight timely, topical areas in toxicology. All submissions are ranked and reviewed based on their timeliness and relevance to the field of toxicology. The proposal submission site is now open. The submission deadline is April 30, 2015.

If you wish to submit a proposal for consideration, please continue collaborating with your Specialty Section, Special Interest Group, or the appropriate SOT Committee. Be advised that all groups that you would like to endorse your proposal should be contacted in advance of your submission and provided with a copy of the submission. This is an important step that allows these groups the opportunity to review, score, and rank the submissions before they are forwarded to the Scientific Program Committee for final evaluation.

The Scientific Program Committee held a webinar to discuss best practices for developing and submitting a proposal on Monday, March 9, 2015. A recording of this webinar is available on the SOT website.

We are looking forward to developing an exciting program from the proposals submitted for consideration for the 2016 Annual Meeting.

Sincerely,

John B. Morris
2015–2016 SOT Scientific Program Committee Chair
