SOT Members: US EPA and US FDA Are Seeking Nominations for Science Advisory Committees

We are sending you information about recently announced requests for nominations from the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) and the US Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) to serve on federal science advisory committees. The descriptions and deadlines are provided below, and we encourage you to nominate yourself for a group that is of interest and importance to you.

US EPA Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals: Nominations Due Oct. 29

The US EPA requests public nominations of scientific experts to be considered for ad hoc participation and possible membership on the TSCA Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals (SACC). All nominees will be considered for ad hoc participation in the TSCA SACC's peer reviews of the US EPA risk evaluations for the first 10 chemical substances addressed under TSCA. In addition, all nominees may be considered for TSCA SACC membership to fulfill short-term needs when a vacancy occurs on the chartered committee. US FDA Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee: Nominations Due Nov. 13

The US FDA is requesting nominations for members to serve on the Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee, Office of Science, Center for Tobacco Products. US FDA seeks to include the views of women and men, members of all racial and ethnic groups, and individuals with and without disabilities on its advisory committees and, therefore, encourages nominations of appropriately qualified candidates from these groups. Nominations received on or before November 13, 2018, will be given first consideration for membership on the committee and those received after that date will be considered for later vacancies as these occur. All nominations for membership should be sent electronically by logging into the US FDA Advisory Nomination Portal or by mail to Advisory Committee Oversight and Management Staff, US Food and Drug Administration, 10903 New Hampshire Ave., Bldg. 32, Rm. 5103, Silver Spring, MD 20993-0002.
