More than 100 toxicologists and undergraduate students had an opportunity to meet, enjoy dessert and talk about that progress that has been made building the undergraduate program over the past 24 years.  In addition to the networking opportunities, the Perry J. Gehring Diversity Student Award was presented to A. Katiria Gonzalez Rivera for her paper entitled, “Effects of Acute Exposure to Methylmercury on the Viability of Primary Cerebellar Granulate Cells of lethargic Mice.”  Katie M. McDonald, of Salish Kootenai College received an Honorable Mention. This award recognizes a student who was selected to participate in the SOT Undergraduate Program, is from an ethnic group underrepresented in toxicology (African American, Hispanic, Native American or Pacific Islander), and is presenting a paper at the upcoming SOT meeting. The award recipient is selected by the Committee on Diversity Initiatives.
