The Society of Toxicology (SOT) learned of the passing of Ernest Hodgson on October 10, 2018. Dr. Hodgson joined SOT in 1977 and was an active member throughout his career. He received the SOT Merit Award in 1994 and the Distinguished Toxicology Scholar Award in 2012. He served as the Society's Historian from 2003–2010 and was the Chair of the 50th Anniversary SOT Task Force. He also was a member of the Awards, Education, and Nominating Committees as well as the Comparative and Veterinary, Mechanisms, Molecular and Systems Biology, and Risk Assessment Specialty Sections and the North Carolina Regional Chapter.
