Are you engaged in education and outreach activities that are toxicological in nature? If so, we would love to hear about them at the Society of Toxicology (SOT) 2018 Annual Meeting!

EducationPoster.jpgIn the past few years, there have been posters on a wide variety of topics including toxicology outreach, K-12 partnerships, high school summer programs, undergraduate and graduate degree programs, summer research experiences for undergraduates, innovative toxicology pedagogy, graduate and postdoc mentoring, career development training programs, translating toxicology to the public, Regional Chapter activities, and risk communication in the classroom and to the public, among others. The Education Committee, Undergraduate Education Subcommittee, and the Graduate Education Subcommittee encourage those with toxicology-related education ideas to share to submit abstracts so that we can once again have a wonderful session at the 2018 Annual Meeting in San Antonio.

For this type of abstract, the impact on the practice of toxicology, risk assessment, education, or public health is described. Subject matter that fosters discourse relevant to the evolution and improvement of the field of toxicology and toxicological education is encouraged. Implications for stakeholders are articulated in the abstract, the purpose, research methods, and assessment approach are described, with an explicit summary of qualitative or quantitative findings and conclusions. Care should be taken to distinguish between statements that are based on documented facts rather than opinions. A literature review or descriptive background material is not sufficient content for a poster.

Abstract submissions are due by noon ET on October 9.  Please remember that you only can be a first author on one (science or education) abstract; therefore, coordinate with a colleague or student so that all of your scholarly contributions can add to the meeting.

For further information or to discuss your potential abstract, contact Larissa Williams of the Undergraduate Education Subcommittee or Aaron Bowman of the Graduate Education Subcommittee. Also please see the Call for Education Abstracts.
