Focus on Toxicology Series: Seeking Topics and Authors

By Karen Stine posted 03-01-2018 05:18 PM

I’ve signed on to edit a new series called Focus on Toxicology. The idea is to develop a series of short monographs (either single- or multiple-authored) and ranging from 20,000 to 50,000 words (basically longer than a typical review article but shorter than a typical book). The topics could range from advances in basic research to applied questions of safety and risk—anything of current interest to researchers and/or practitioners in the field. The volumes would be published with a quick turn-around time as e-books, with hardback print on demand.

I’d like this series to be both a useful resource and truly representative of the current work going on across the field, which means going well beyond my own narrow experience and interests in terms of recruiting ideas and authors. And as a member of the Society of Toxicology (SOT), one of my first thoughts on getting past this hurdle was to approach the SOT membership for input.

So basically I’m recruiting ideas and authors, and if you have any topics that you think would be particularly important and relevant for us to try and cover in this series, I’d truly appreciate hearing about them. Also, of course, I’m looking to identify and recruit potential authors whose work would make them a particularly good candidate to author a volume in the series. Anyone who has a general topic or author ideas can contact me; anyone with an idea and an interest in potentially authoring or editing a volume also can request additional information on author expectations and compensation, as well as specific instructions for submitting a proposal. Please visit My Page on ToXchange for my contact information.

Again, thanks for your consideration. I’m very excited about working on this project and getting a chance to see what current topics and issues are on everyone’s minds.
