As the Society prepares for an exceptional 2021 Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida, SOT and its members continue to share science from the 2020 Annual Meeting online.

2020 Virtual Meeting Update

The Texas edition of the 2020 Virtual Meeting was held last Saturday, with great success. It featured 35 poster discussion presentations and two invited talks. There were more than 60 attendees. Many thanks to Ivan Rusyn for organizing and hosting the event, and to all the participants. If you are finding creative ways to share 2020 meeting content virtually, please email SOT Headquarters so that your efforts can be featured in an upcoming blog.

Meanwhile, we continue to host webinars featuring 2020 Annual Meeting content. The five webinars held to date have attracted between 180 and 400 attendees each.  Please check the “Virtual Meeting Program” web page to register for the webinars that interest you and to explore the new Scientific Sessions added to the schedule this week:

  • Tuesday, June 2, 1:00 PM–2:30 PM (ET)—Roundtable Session: Mechanistic Read-Across of Chemical Toxicants Based on Big Data
  • Thursday, June 4, 1:00 PM–2:30 PM (ET)—Informational Session: Communicating Risk in a (Mis)information-Rich World
  • Tuesday, June 9, 1:00 PM–2:30 PM (ET)—Education-Career Development Session: CURE for the Common Classroom: Engaging Students and Faculty in Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences to Maximize Academic Success and Productivity

The Society is grateful to the Virtual Meeting Supporters for sustaining this meeting programming.

2021 Annual Meeting Preparations

Even as the 2020 Virtual Meeting continues to unfold, the Scientific Program Committee and Continuing Education Committee are already in the planning phase for the 2021 SOT Annual Meeting, which will take place March 14–18, 2021, in Orlando, Florida. The deadline for proposal submission has been extended to Friday, June 12, 2020.

As always, the Scientific Program Committee and Continuing Education Committee are interested in the latest science for sharing during the SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo. Therefore, the Committees have decided not to allow proposals that are the same as the sessions accepted for the 2020 Annual Meeting. Please do not resubmit a proposal that was part of the 2020 program. We have scheduled many of the 2020 Scientific Sessions and Continuing Education courses as virtual sessions, and there is room on the schedule for more. We expect the science presented at the 2021 Annual Meeting to be fresh and new. If you do decide to propose a session on the same topic for 2021, make sure it is revised and updated and that the updates are clear to the Scientific Program Committee and Continuing Education Committee. Thank you for your attention to this important detail during the program planning phase.
