The National Association of Biomedical Research and some 90 other organizations and institutes have organized a rally to raise awareness among the general public about the importance of continued investment in scientific research. The rally is slated to be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 8, at the Carnegie Library, which is located across the street from the Washington DC Convention Center. National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Francis Collins will attend the rally along with some members of Congress and survivors of various diseases that affect thousands of families across the US and abroad.

The NIH is scheduled to lose $1.55 billion of its $31 billion annual budget under sequestration.
