Dr. Bruce Ames, the developer of the Ames Test, will be on hand at 7:45 am on Monday, March 12 to receive the plaque for the SOT 2012 Landmarks Program. This test was developed by Dr. Ames and his colleagues in the early 1970s. This simple screening assay examines biological mutations to determine whether a chemical damages DNA and might cause cancer and is still one of the most utilized assays to screen carcinogenic potential of chemicals and drugs.
