Plenary Opening Lecture Well Attended

Leroy Hood, an American biologist who won the 2011 Fritz J. and Dolores H. Russ Prize “for automating DNA sequencing that revolutionized biomedicine and forensic science,” opened the 2012 SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo with a visionary presentation on the emerging technologies that will transform medicine and the analyses of toxicity over the next ten years. Several hundred SOT attendees were present and were captivated by Hood’s comments regarding pioneering changes in toxicology and the development of new powerful new computational and mathematical tools, which he believes will transform medicine over the next 5-20 years.
