The International Union of Toxicology (IUTOX), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), has standing with the World Health Organization (WHO), which provides opportunities to resources and programming contributing to the betterment of societies everywhere. An important WHO initiative is World No Tobacco Day, marked every year on May 31.This year’s campaign calls on all countries to raise taxes on tobacco as a way of slowing the deadly smoking epidemic, which kills nearly 6 million people each year.
