The Society of Toxicology Postdoctoral Assembly (SOT PDA) Chair Samantha J. Snow and SOT PDA Treasurer Marianna Stamou will co-chair the Fall Career Webinar in celebration of National Postdoc Appreciation Week.

Many postdocs have heard about the option of becoming a board-certified professional toxicologist. However, a small number of us have a clear understanding of what efforts are required to obtain such a credential, what the eligibility criteria are, and what the benefits of holding such a credential are to one’s career regardless of the path chosen in academia, government, or industry. Of the International Union of Toxicology’s 51 member societies, approximately half support some form of certification for professional toxicologists at the national level; however, definitions and criteria can vary greatly among them.

As part of the 2017 National Postdoc Appreciation Week, the SOT PDA Executive Board cordially invites all trainees and early career toxicologists to join us for a webinar that will address these issues and guide us through the process and benefits of becoming a certified/registered toxicologist. Following a short presentation by each speaker, participants will have the opportunity to interact with panelists during a Q & A session.

Speakers:

  • Ruth A. Roberts, ApconiX
  • Curtis D. Klaassen, University of Washington
  • Vijaykumar Kale, Battelle Memorial Institute
