Join us for the Continuing Education Sunrise Mini-Course: Basic Principles and Practices for Applying Epigenetics in Mechanistic Toxicology!

When: Sunday, March 13, 7:00 AM

Where: New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, Second Floor

Who: Presenters Ronald N. Hines and Shaun D. McCullough

What:

Part 1: Principles of Epigenetics: An Introduction to the Mechanisms of Gene Regulation

Dr. Hines will provide a brief overview of the different components of the epigenome with an emphasis on DNA methylation, histone modifications indicative of chromatin structure, and some of the mechanisms responsible for setting the epigenomic state.

Part 2: Experimental Techniques for Incorporating Chromatin and DNA Methylation Analysis into Mechanistic Toxicology

Dr. McCullough will discuss the principles and applications of chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP), bisulfite-based DNA methylation conversion, and DNA methylation enrichment. Special attention will be given to the development of properly controlled experiments and considerations that must be made during data analysis.
