The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) is offering opportunities for early career scientists to hold leadership roles within the federation in an effort to include and engage such scientists and gain their perspective.
- Early Career Representative, Board of Directors: This individual must be within seven years of the first position as an independent faculty or research scientist. For a two-year term, this role includes responsibilities such as attendance during Board meetings and adherence to Board standards, and a qualified candidate should be an advocate for the biological and biomedical sciences. - Early Career Representative, Science Policy Committee: This individual must be either (1) within seven years of the first position as an independent faculty or research scientist, (2) a graduate student, or (3) a postdoctoral researcher. For a two-year term, this role includes responsibilities such as participation in committee video conferences and service on at least one subcommittee. A qualified candidate must have relevant experience in at least one FASEB core science policy topic. For full details, see the FASEB website.
SOT is a FASEB Member Society, which for SOT members fulfills the requirement of both roles that the candidate be a member in good standing of at least one Member Society of FASEB.
Members interested in serving as a representative should send the requested materials to Tonia Masson by February 21. SOT leadership will review the documentation and submit the candidate for each opportunity by the March 2 deadline.
