The Society of Toxicology (SOT), the world’s largest society of professional toxicologists, is meeting in San Antonio for the 52nd Annual Meeting and ToxExpo, which runs from March 10–14. Some 6,000 scientists from around the world are expected to share an extensive array of scientific research findings with their colleagues. Join us for the next San Antonio Science Café to learn about the fascinating subject of toxicology, the study of how hazardous chemicals and other agents affect the health of living creatures and the environment. The event will take place Saturday, March 9, from 5:00 pm–7:00 pm at the Mind Science Foundation, 117 West El Prado Drive, San Antonio.
Sol Bobst, President of SOT’s Ethics, Legal, and Social Issues Specialty Section, will offer an overview of toxicology and its impact on your daily lives. Joining him will be Miguel C. Fernández, the director of San Antonio’s own South Texas Poison Center, who will inform you about the workings of their Center, and the causes and incidence of poisoning in the region. Phil Wexler of the National Library of Medicine will moderate the program and introduce the speakers. There will be ample time for questions and discussion.
Bottled water, soft drinks, iced tea, and light refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Mind Science Foundation.
Attendance is limited to 20 individuals so please RSVP online to ensure your admission.
