A panel discussion will feature two distinguished speakers from industry and federal agencies, sharing insights into advanced computational toxicology applications. The industry expert, Dr. Kyunghee Yang, a senior principal scientist from Simulations Plus Inc., will present on "Quantitative Systems Toxicology Modeling (QST) of Drug-Induced Liver Injury," covering the fundamentals of quantitative systems toxicology modeling, input data, validation, predictions, and case examples. The government speaker, Dr. Leihong Wu, a research scientist from the US Food and Drug Administration (US FDA), will present on "AskFDALabel: Enhancing Drug Reviewers' Experience with Large Language Models," discussing how this secured, large language model (LLM)-powered framework, optimized with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and custom templates, achieves high consistency with human annotations, improving adverse event detection and regulatory efficiency. The session will conclude with an audience Q&A moderated by SOT Graduate Student Leadership Committee members Heehay Park and Elena Chung. Topics will also cover transitioning into computational toxicology, career paths, and opportunities for individuals with and without computational backgrounds.
