Hosted by the SOT Exposure Specialty Section

The SOT Exposure Specialty Section presented its 2025 Paper of the Year award to an International Team that produced the manuscript “Introducing the OECD guidance document on occupational biomonitoring: A harmonized methodology for deriving occupational biomonitoring levels (OBL)” (Hopf et al. 2025, Toxicology Letters, 403:132-143. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.toxlet.2024.12.006). The presentation will highlight the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) framework that resulted in guidance on the derivation of occupational biomonitoring levels (OBLs). OBLs are the appropriate option for chemical substances that can be absorbed through the skin. This methodology for derivation of OBLs has been developed in collaboration with scientific and regulatory experts from more than 40 institutes in 15 countries within the OECD.
