The SOT Postdoctoral Assembly (PDA) is now accepting applications for the 2027 Best Postdoctoral Publication Award (BPPA)!

The BPPA recognizes exceptional papers in toxicology resulting from research conducted during formal, mentored postdoctoral traineeships. Three awards will be presented during the PDA Luncheon at the 2027 SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo in San Antonio, Texas. Each award consists of a certificate and $315.

Who Is Eligible?

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • The research reported in the paper must have been conducted while the applicant held a mentored postdoctoral research position. Applicants do not need to still hold that position when applying.

  • The applicant must be an SOT member or have submitted an SOT membership application by the award deadline.

  • The applicant must be the first author of a peer-reviewed paper published online, in print, or in press between September 30, 2025, and September 30, 2026.

  • Review articles are eligible only if they include meta-analyses or decision analyses.

  • Co-first-authored papers are eligible when the applicant’s contribution is clearly described and the co-first authors are explicitly identified in the paper.

  • Each applicant may submit only one paper. If two eligible postdoctoral researchers are co-first authors on the same paper, they may submit a joint application.

Application Requirements

A complete application includes:

  • A completed award application form

  • A completed advisor nomination form

  • A copy of the paper

  • A letter of acceptance from the journal editor if the paper is in press

Help SOT recognize the exceptional research being conducted by postdoctoral scholars. Apply today and submit your BPPA application by October 9, 2026!
